It has always been installed here, on the viewpoint towards Liberec. The first of the crosses - still stone at that time - had stood here since 1737. One hundred years later, a wooden cross was first erected on the site by the municipalities of Dolní and Horní Hanychov. The wooden crosses were restored many times, always destroyed by storms, but the people of Hanychov were not discouraged.

The current one, erected by a group of enthusiasts shortly after the Velvet Revolution, is carved from hard acacia wood and infused with real bull's blood. The cross was installed on 1 June 1990 and consecrated the following day.

You can find more information and interesting facts about the crosses in the publications of Marek Řeháček.
